How Much Does an Apple Grading Machine Cost in India?

How Much Does an Apple Grading Machine Cost in India?

If you've been asking around, you've probably noticed nobody quotes a straight number for an apple grading machine. That's not manufacturers being cagey. Two packhouses can order what sounds like the same machine and get quotes that differ by two or three times over, because the machine itself changes shape depending on what you tell the manufacturer you need.

What actually moves the price

Capacity is the biggest factor. A machine built for half a ton an hour uses a shorter frame, a smaller motor, and fewer rollers than one built for five tons an hour. On our own line, that range (0.5 to 5 tons per hour) covers roughly a 2 HP motor on the small end up to 15 HP on the large end, with the frame length growing to match.

Body material is the second lever. Stainless steel (SS 304) costs more than powder-coated mild steel, but it holds up better against moisture and daily washdown. A lot of buyers in the hill belt go with mild steel for a standard packhouse and step up to stainless for lots headed to export.

Size grades are the third thing people forget about. Sorting into four bands is a simpler mechanism than sorting into eight. If your buyers are strict about grading standards, you'll pay for the extra bands. If you're selling into a mandi that only cares about big, medium, and small, there's no reason to pay for eight.

Rough numbers to work with

Weight is usually a decent proxy for price, since it tracks how much steel and how big a motor went into the machine. Our range runs from about 800 kg on the smallest configuration up to 2.5 tons on the largest. If someone quotes you a number without asking your daily volume, your material preference, and your buyer's grading standard first, treat that number as a guess, not a quote.

What we'd actually ask before quoting

Three questions get us to a real number fast: how many tons of apples move through your shed on a peak day, whether stainless steel or mild steel is fine for your setup, and how many size grades your buyers expect. Answer those and the quote stops being a guess.

If you want to see the full specification range a machine like this can be built across, our apple grading machine page has it. Or send us your daily volume directly and we'll price it from there.
