Why two names for one machine
In India, most manufacturers use grading and sorting like they mean the same thing. Both describe a machine that separates apples by size, and sometimes by weight or colour too. So if you see 'apple sorting machine' on one site and 'apple grading machine' on another, they are talking about the same kind of equipment.
What the machine actually sorts by
Our standard machine sorts by size. Apples move over rollers, and the gaps between the rollers get wider as they go along. Small apples drop through first. Bigger apples travel further before they drop. That is the grading, or sorting, part.
If you also want colour sorting, that needs a different machine with cameras built in. We build that separately, since it costs more and not every buyer needs it.
Which term should you search for?
Use whichever word feels natural. Search for apple grading machine price or apple sorting machine price, and you will land on the same kind of product either way. What matters more than the name is telling the seller your daily volume, and whether you want size sorting only, or size and colour sorting together.
When you actually need more than sorting
Size sorting covers most buyers. But if you sell into export markets or premium retail, colour often matters as much as size. A red apple mixed into a green lot, or a mixed-colour lot sold as premium, can cost you on price. That is when a colour sorter earns its cost back, not before.

Since the names get used loosely across the industry, do not assume from the name alone. Ask the seller directly. Does this sort by size only, or by size and colour? How many size bands does it produce? That way you know exactly what you are paying for, no matter what the listing calls it.
